Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 36 Weeks, tomorrow (7/27) starts week 37
Size of baby: 18.75 inches, 5.75 pounds crenshaw melon (whatever that is!)
Maternity Clothes: all the time
Gender: sweet baby boy- and he has a name! Wes Patrick Pennywell
Movement: not feeling as many kicks to my ribs (thank you Wes!) but lots of sliding motions as Wes is running out of room.. I keep getting worried he is gonna turn around (he is currently head down) with how much he moves sometimes, but my doctor reassured me he doesn't have enough room to want to turn around.. just moving a lot to try to get comfortable in his cramped space. I keep reminding him that when he comes out he will have all the space he needs- so hurry it up :)
What I miss: getting out of bed is getting pretty difficult--and I am doing it more now that he is dropping! Oh well, only a few more weeks left :) Now that he is dropping I feel like I am doing more of a waddle-- I am normally always such a fast walker but this has changed for sure!
Cravings: tuscan cantaloupes (I eat at least one a week.. sometimes two...) , cold milk.. chick fil a --I had not had chick fil a in quite a while and Drew and I went last Friday.. about half way through my sandwich and fries I could not eat anymore and was super sad!.. don't worry I took it home for a snack later :)
Symptoms: he is dropping and I feel lots of pressure in my abdomen, my back hurts a lot at night and I have some BH contractions, normally nothing that keeps me up though. I had my weekly apt today and my doctor said he is still not fully engaged, and I am not dilated at all. My doctor is happy about this because she has a broken leg and can't deliver babies until Aug. 10, so she is hoping I make it until then. (I am sure I will!) Also, my mom is flying in August 14, so I am thinking August 15 would be a great day to come Wes Patrick, k? Thanks :)
Best Moment this week: I just got home from our last shower- at Drew's work. It was very sweet of them to do that and we are all ready for Wes! Car seat installed.. bag semi-packed..woohoo! I don't feel like he is going to come early and am pretty certain I will see week 40.. but you never know. We are very excited and it is all kind of surreal.
and here I am... last day of week 36 and I seriously don't know how this tummy has any more space for that sweet boy to grow, it is insane!

Wes' Room
Well Wes' room is just about complete! I have been working on it since about March because I am a planner and was anxious to get started as soon as we knew he was a boy! We started by hiring painters to paint the green stripes and the other 3 walls. I could have never made those stripes perfectly straight and they did a great job! Totally worth the cost of painters over my sanity :)
This is the view from the doorway. Our house has a split floor plan and the other 2 guest bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house. Wes' room is a small room right next to our master bedroom- it is perfect for a nursery.
My sofa glider.. I searched long and hard for the perfect chair and finally found it! It is a Little Castle Glider and I ordered it from Buy Buy Baby. My parents brought it here from Ft. Worth last week so we are happy to finally have it! It fits perfectly and is very comfortable. The frame above it is inspired from Pinterest, just a piece of plywood painted and a frame put on, obviously no picture in the frame yet.. that will have to wait about 5 more weeks :)
The changing table was my Gram's Buffet. I sanded it, Drew spray painted it, and then I added an antique glaze. We love the way it turned out and my mom couldn't believe it was the same piece of furniture when she saw it. The canvas above the changing table was made by my best friend, Kailey. It looks perfectly in his nursery and I could have NEVER made those words look so neat and straight. The perks of having a perfectionist for a best friend :)
Beside the door are another pinterest inspired project, book shelves for his board books! My wonderful hubby made these and they turned out perfect!
I found Wes' crib at Storkland in Wichita Falls. I was home for Easter weekend registering and saw it and loved it! I came back to Houston and found a store here that could order it, we had to wait around 8 weeks to get it and were so excited when it finally arrived at the warehouse! You can't see in the picture but the sides are solid wood panels and so it doesn't look like a baby jail.. for some reason when I was crib shopping they all reminded me of baby jails and I couldn't find one I liked. The drawer on the bottom pulls out for storage. It also converts into a toddler bed and then a full size bed. Next to his crib is a precious frog rocker that some family friends gave us. It sings songs and says "Wes Patrick" on the bottom rail. On the left of his crib is his MamaRoo, an amazing swing that our shower hostess gave us this past weekend! It will probably be moved into our room for the beginning of his life, but for now we put it here. The little shelf to the left of the crib has some block letters that say his name, a big wooden "W" and a small piggy bank, also there is a small bronze rocking horse that was in Drew's nursery.
So that is Wes' room! Drew and I are so happy with the way it turned out and can't wait for our sweet boy to be here. Lucy enjoys her brothers room too, and has taken many naps on the floor while I have been working in there.

Bump Date- Week 30
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 30 Weeks, as of last Friday (6/8)
Size of baby: 15.7 inches, 2.75 lbs (a cabbage)
Maternity Clothes: yes, thankful that school is out and I am living in shorts and tank tops
Gender: sweet baby boy- and he has a name! Wes Patrick Pennywell
Movement: ohh yes. He has turned head down and is kicking me in the ribs. I am glad he is being a good boy and turned around :) in the evenings he is crazy and when I wake up at night it takes me awhile to fall back asleep because he is so active all night long!
What I miss: easily getting up off the floor.. I am VERY thankful that I have not had bad heartburn at all in pregnancy, however the past few days I notice after I eat if I bend over my food feels as if its coming back up, so I guess that is indigestion? Nothing too bad though! It is getting HOT in Houston.. really the word I need to use is HUMID. I am going to be sweating a lot in the next 9 weeks..
Cravings: Cafe Express turkey club & sweet potato fries=heavenly.
Symptoms: in the evenings my back hurt and Drew and I walked about 2 miles tonight and my feet are in paiiiiin. My doctor put me on iron pills because I am close to being anemic, apparently like every other pregnant woman in the world. I failed my 1st glucose test because I forgot about it (preggo brain) and ate an apple before... so I got to do the awesome 3 hour test---- yes I am being sarcastic. It wasn't that bad really, and I passed. and I celebrated by eating ice cream. not really :) ok, I might of had ice cream that day-- I really don't remember..
Best Moment this week: School is out (praise Jesus!) and I am enjoying baking, cooking, and doing pinterest projects! Wes' nursery is almost complete and I love how everything has come together! I am loving that I have about 9 weeks of pregnancy left. I know at times that is going to seem like a LONG time but I am so thankful I have had an easy pregnancy and am SO excited to meet my sweet little boy! Everytime I think about it I get giddy and start tearing up. I am treasuring the last moments of just Drew and I (and Lucy) but also super excited to see my sweet hubby as a daddy and my lucy goose as a sister.

Bump Update- Week 25
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 25 weeks, as of last Friday (5/4)
Size of baby: 13.5 inches, 1.5 lb a rutabaga
Maternity Clothes: y-e-s. ha! I am wearing a lot of maternity shorts and tank tops on weekends because it is already hot. Lots of dresses to work for the same reason... yeah, I am gonna sweat to death this summer, ha!
Gender: sweet baby boy- and he has a name! Wes Patrick Pennywell
Movement: yes. he moves around randomly throughout the day and at night he moves the most.. mostly in the evenings. Sometimes when I get home from work and am sitting down and playing on the ipad he will kick my side so hard that my arm will move and the ipad will almost fall, haha!
What I miss: I am certainly noticing some changes because of my belly, takes me a bit longer to get off the floor with my first graders and a bit more work to get out of bed, but it's still just funny at this point
Cravings: well the past few days.. NOTHING. I had a stomach bug.. (thanks to my first graders...) not fun! But I am feeling better, have an appetite again, and I am sure Wes is happy! When I was sick he was moving like crazy all the time.. I guess he was wondering why I was not eating.
Symptoms: my back is hurting in the evenings.. and my feet. wow! I always have heard that your feet will hurt but now I really know what that feels like!
Best Moment this week: Well on Tuesday ( a week ago today) we got to see Wes again at a sonogram- it's so fun to see how big he has gotten. It is crazy to me how much bigger he is now! He was snuggled up against my tummy so much that his nose was even being pushed in, the technician said maybe this means he will love snuggling-- I hope so! Also Sunday morning we were laying in bed and all of a sudden my tummy felt so weird in one area... Drew and I started feeling around with our hands and realized he was really sticking a body part out, we think it was his butt. ha! It felt really cool and we have been trying to get him to do that again!

Bump Update- Week 23
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 23 weeks, as of Friday (April 20)
Size of baby: 11.5 inches, 1.1 lbs (a large mango)
Maternity
Clothes: Maternity Pants-yes! I also have some maternity shorts now which are wonderful since its already like 85 most days here in Houston. I think I am going to stay indoors all summer. :) Also lots of tank tops that are just a bigger size from Target/Old Navy. My sister-in-law gave me a TON. wonderful :)
Gender: sweet BOY!
Movement:
Yes, he keeps hiccuping and I am still feeling movement randomly. Not much during the day but when I am still and laying down at night that is when he starts moving. Still not feeling from the outside except for every now and then.. Drew is very ready for that to get consistent! :)
Sleep:
I am still waking up 2 times to pee, and waking up several times from leg cramps. I am kind of just getting used to it though! Other then that when I am asleep I sleep soo good, so that is great!
What I
miss: all of my clothes.. nothing really. I have really enjoyed being pregnant.. especially the 2nd trimester. I am sure once I am in the third trimester and burning up and uncomfortable my thoughts might change a little bit... :)
Cravings: Chick-Fil-A still always sounds great..ha! I only have it probably once every 2 or 3 weeks but when I do.. wonderful! Also I have been drinking crystal light tropical punch juice a lot, so yummy!
Symptoms:I've been having lots of round ligament pain, my doctor just says he is growing a lot right now and that is why, nothing to be worried about. It doesn't hurt all the time, just randomly and mostly when I go to stand up or am moving around a lot. I do believe that he is growing though, that's for sure! haha :) But my back really has not been hurting anymore (I am sure that will return though!) so that has been nice!
Best Moment this week: Last Friday we got his room painted. I'll post pictures once it is more complete. I LOVE it though. Also, I refinished a buffet table that was my Gram's to use as his changing table, got it put in the room last night and it looks great! As Drew was putting on the knobs and I was folding some baby clothes he said.." I can't believe we are getting our son's room together" it is still so surreal at times but I am so ready for August and to meet this sweet boy! I have never wanted a summer to go by so quickly in my life :)

Bump Update- Week 19
Well..looks like I have missed a few weeks but honestly I think that might be better, because things don't change all that much week to week!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 19 weeks, as of Friday (March 23)- So, tomorrow will be 20 weeks!
Size of baby: 6.0 inches, 8.5 oz, a heirloom tomato
Maternity Clothes: Yes! Loving maternity jeans and a lot of shirts my sister in law gave me! :) I can still wear some normal shirts but I am weird about liking my shirts long and my bump is causing most normal shirts to be a bit short for my liking.
Gender: BOY! We found out last Tuesday and are overjoyed! It is so nice to be able to say HE instead of "it" haha. It makes it all a bit more realistic and we are so excited to meet our sweet boy. The name situation is still being debated.. I guess we have yet to find THE name. We have plenty of time though!
Movement: Yes!That sweet boy loves to move around in the afternoons and evenings. It seems like just when I am getting a little nervous I haven't felt him, he starts moving around to let me know every things ok :) Still can't feel it from the outside- although Drew tries daily- hopefully soon though!
Sleep: I went on a women's retreat at my church this weekend and didn't get as much sleep as I normally do, so I guess the past few days I have been catching up. It seems like when my head hits the pillow I am OUT. Of course, I wake up to pee 2 times at least.. but I immediately fall back asleep!
What I miss: I don't miss too much at this point but I am sure that will start to change more as my belly grows even more! People are saying "aww look at your little baby bump" and I am thinking... this is little?! Haha I know it is going to get MUCH bigger but it is still weird when you start to feel your weight shift forward when you walk! I am very thankful to have such an easy pregnancy so far though :) Praise the Lord!
Cravings: Chick-Fil-A still always sounds great.. STILL. ha! Popsicles, ice cream :)
Symptoms: It seems I am having to pee more often during the day... and I know that is only going to get worse-oh and my belly button is getting verryy shallow! I am able to clean it really well, haha! Overall we are thrilled to know he's a BOY and reading to start planning everything out for him! Such an exciting time!Sunday, March 4, 2012
Bump Update- Week 16
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 16 weeks, as of Friday (March 2)
Size of baby: 4.6 inches, 3.5 oz -- an avocado
Maternity Clothes: My mom came to visit this week and we went shopping for some more maternity clothes, I got a few more pants and sort sleeved shirts. Most of it fits kind of big at the moment.. but I know that will be changing soon, ha!
Gender: We will find out on March 20- our apt. got moved up 2 days.. we are very ready to know what baby p is-- then the nursery work begins! :)
Movement: Yes! I started feeling something a few days ago but wasn't sure it was baby. Then it started to happen more often. It is still very soft and I am sure baby is still moving at times when I can't feel it. It is a weird feeling and hard to describe, kind of reminds me of what you would think tickling would feel like from the inside, or butterflies in a way. It's amazing either way!
Sleep: I think every night about 5 minutes after I lay my head down I am OUT. Still waking up twice to use the bathroom but I think I pretty much do that in my sleep.
What I miss: I've read that the need to pee situation gets better for lots of women in the second trimester- not me! Ha, I have always thought I had a ridiculously small bladder. At this point about everytime I stand up I need to go.. and I know this will only get worse in my 3rd trimesters so I can only imagine! I am blessed my classroom is across from the teacher restroom so I can go easily and quickly! My students are already just getting used to this new normal.
Cravings: Chick-Fil-A still always sounds great.. my mom brought it to me on work Thursday, delicious!
Symptoms: The restroom situation, like I said before.. and the usual stuff I have said in the past weeks. My back is hurting a lot in the evenings after work.. I know it's not because of baby so much yet, just from how I move so much at work. I am constantly squatting down to first grade sized tables and then standing up, and this never used to be a problem... now by about 2 pm my back is killing me every day! Oh well, its worth it for this sweet baby!
